What is Prostate Cancer?

All men have a prostate which tends to be about the size and shape of a walnut in younger men. Prostates tend to enlarge in men as they age, hence the higher risk of developing prostate cancer with older age.

Prostate cancer grows very slowly and is confined to the prostate. Little needs to be done in these instances. However, since there are five different types of prostate cancer, it can be fast-growing and aggressive. You need to seek treatment if this is the case with you because not doing so can be deadly. Remember that survival rates are highest in slow-growing cancer which is non-metastatic.

 Types of Prostate Cancer

The types of prostate cancer are:

● Adenocarcinoma

● Small cell carcinomas

● Neuroendocrine tumors

● Transitional cell carcinomas

● Sarcomas

Adenocarcinoma

Most prostate cancers belong to this category. They grow from the cells in the prostate gland, which make semen.

Small cell carcinomas

This type of prostate cancer is scarce, with less than 1% of all prostate cancers belonging to this category. It can be composed entirely of small cells, or it can have the more common adenocarcinoma cells mixed in the tumours. Pure small cell carcinoma comprises 50% of all small cell carcinomas, and mixed cell comprises the other 50%.

Neuroendocrine tumours

Prostate cancer is very scarce to occur, but it is a very aggressive kind of disease. It tends to appear during the later stages of prostate cancer.

Transitional cell carcinomas

This is a rare type of prostate cancer which metastasizes.

Sarcomas

This is rare. This type of cancer develops from mesodermal cells from the prostate’s muscles.

Reading a story on one of the crowdfunding websites in India like Ketto feels good, but it also has some usefulness: It involves more of the brain in activities. It facilitates insights of points created. It aids a better reminder of those poi...

Fun Fact on How the Twister Riddle was Solved by Crowdsourcing

An avid book reader, National Geographical Explorer, and a leading atmospheric & environmental scientist, Anton Seimon was very much interested in exploring the dynamics and formation of tornadoes since his childhood. Despite conducting various researches, the scientific community was still not sure whether the tornadoes formed from the ground up or sky down. Being a keen reader of all books related to storms, mountaineering, and volcanoes, he never thought that his childhood fascination will later become his adult vocation.   The recent scientific advancements helped much in understanding the dynamics of tornadoes. They emerged as the offshoot of a massive air system that was a part of a rotating thunderstorm named a supercell storm. The most believed concept was that tornadoes were formed when warm air rose to colder air in a storm cloud above it. Inside the massive supercell cloud, it was believed that variable directions and wind speeds encourage warmer air to rotate. ...
